of nostalgia - remembering the good ole sporty days
man, yesterday was awesome !!! Totally remembered the old fun and sporty days of IIT !!!
Polo, Simtoo and I got together sometime late in the evening yesterday and went off to IIT to play a few games of Squash !! Man, it was like a timewarp, I mean, its been 4 yrs, but IIT has just NOT changed !! Everything in the SAC, the placement of boards, trophies, the look, the colors, the geeky students, everything was the same !! Oh no wait- there were 2 differences, more girls and almost everyone had cellphones - It still amuses me to see everyone talking on a cellphone most of the time in the campus. Makes me feel there is already a generation gap.
I also spoke to a few students from the 3rd yr who were there to play baddy and some who were there for an oil painting contest. Good fun - honestly, somethings never change. Poltu, fraud and vellapa !! I guess these things will always be constant in IIT :)
Acha- so that was part of the Nostalgia, the main part though was playing Squash in the Insty courts. It was so frigging hot and humid and we all were sweating bullets but god damn it, it was the most fun game of squash I have played in a while. Aight I have not played that much also, but whatever little I played while in the US. There is something about the concrete floored courts of IIT where I started playing and where Bapu and I once got a ladder from the maint department to retrieve 15 + perfectly good squash balls from the tubelights and other such ball traps on the ceiling. And the memories from when I used to beat Bapu 6-0 for days on end - Bapu dont kill me for writing this here ;)
And the rituals after playing - going to the juice shop for sprouts and juice and trash talk ! Well this time, the journey was not so smooth but after having a scare of the car sputtering due to lack of fuel and the grim possibility of 3 spent folks pushing the car and the juice shop being closed, we did end up getting nariyal pani and mango shake and fruit chat at the HFC (Health Food Center). We also met Khan sahaab from Bihar. Quite a vocal person.
Aur kya - haaaaaaaan dinner ! the best of all - have you guys heard about Rajender da Dhabha ?? Man, what he has is this big big tub of chicken curry which is spicy as hell ! he has some other small things on the menu like butter chicken, but the thing which sells or goes is this chicken curry available as a breast or leg piece. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM the curry is spicy, the food is unhygenic but it tastes like nothing else. combined with the experience of sitting on the floor and eating your meal with folks ranging from ur parking lot sweeper to the punju who just drove in in a swanky new merc - its quite a unique experience. I love this place !!
Aight - enuf about yesterday, now I have to go and get some real work done ! So will catch y'll later.
cheers
