Happy bday Sunny ! (part 2)
So, as you would know by now, Sunny- my friend from Cap1- is visiting India. Sunday, Jun 19th was her birthday and the celebrations continued from the party on Sat night to a (my) family kinda affair on Sunday. I was quite impressed that day and was also quite j as I dont think I have gotten such a welcome ever. Aah, my family ensured that Sunny went back with a good impression of Rajasthani hospitality. :)
Now look on below for a pictoral tour of the day...
Few beers to celebrate her bday, fathers day and Polo's visit home. Ate too much !!
Giftttttttttttt !! Mom- i havent gotten one for my bday yet :(
Drive to jpr - with lots of music, dancing and sightseeing on entering Jpr !!
Trying street food - onion pakoda's !
Sunny was quite dazed with everything :)
Quick customary stop at my grandma's house to get her blessings and ended up getting very pleasantly surprised and quite touched in Sunny's case.
nanis gift
Thank you dance
Dinner and cake at my masi's (Moms sis) place. Amazing mutton - aah the weekend of gluttony continued. I believe Sunny gave a quick "thank you" dance performance there ;)
All in all quite a nice trip !!

Bukhara - food for the gods!!
Bukhara - THE BEST Mughlai Restaurant ever !! Yup, I just got back from a lovely dinner at Bukhara and I just had to come online and put the feeling down !!
I knew exactly what I wanted for the main course - the Afghani Raan (leg of lamb) and the daal bukhara ! These 2 are the signature dishes for this restaurant which has been graced by Clinton, Rajiv Gandhi and I believe MJ too.
However, for the appetizers, it was a difficult choice - I wanted EVERYTHING and came close to ordering too much, however I finally decided on the Malai Kebab. aaaaaaaaaaah !! It was just AWESOME !! No other words.
ummmm !! aww, forget it, I cant carry on. I am going to enjoy the leftovers- yup I have some.
Aight pics to come soon and look out for more posts abt the weekend !
Have a great weekend !
Finally it starts...with a quick life history
Alright, I have been procrastinating this for way too long now, its time to start posting to my blog and not let it rot in hell.
So, what am I going to write in this first post here - umm, I guess a quick run down on past events and about me in general would be useful. I will then start giving detailed updates in subsequent postings.
To sum it up quickly, I am an 26 yr old lazy bum who is currently freeloading of his parents. I have lived most of my life in Delhi, India followed by one year around the world with an oil company and then the last 3 yrs in the US near the Washington DC area (Richmond followed by the DC suburbs)
As is obvious, I did most of my schooling from Delhi - The Army Public School, DK followed by a 2 yr stint at DPS, R.K. Puram which is called the factory with due reason. More than 1400 graduates in my year.
I also did my engineering from Delhi (IIT). These 4 yrs in IIT were needless to say a very interesting time because, well, I refused to study and just had a blast in the 4 yrs.
Once I got out of IIT, I went on to work as a Jr. Field Engineer (JFE) with Schlumberger (Slb) Oilfield Services. Well, I was essentially a highly paid plumber for 9 months and got to live in France for 3 months and work in Southern India for a lil longer. I did visit the middle east a lil bit also in the process for some trainings but the most interesting part was the people I met. As an example, in my first training class, we were approx 22 students from 17 countries. This was the first time I had been in such an eclectic grp of people and I just had a blast. I still treasure the friendships from those days in Slb.
Well, after 9 odd months in slb, I got restless and felt that this was not really what I wanted to do in life and all, so I packed my bags and headed off to US or vatan as its called among IITians to work with Capital One Finanacial Services or Cap1 as we call it. My job there was essentially working to spam millions of folks billions of times with carefully crafted pieces of mail so that they i could get 1 in a 1000 responders and jump with joy :-) No exaggerations !!
I have been in Cap1 for 3 yrs now and have had a blast most of the time, yup even in Richmond where I stayed for 2 of the 3 yrs. It was essentially the hostel life I never had :)
I am now on a sabbatical from work for 3 months !!! Aaaaaaaaah - a dream come true. :)
So what am I doing in this sabbatical - thats what the next post is about !!
I realize this was more of a life essay than anything else, but I am going to try and make it the norm for the first post only. At most 1 or 2 more posts like this and then I will make them shorter and more relevant.
Cheers
